Weekly Photo Challenge – ‘Depth’ – Laws & Architecture

In response to this weeks Photo Challenge ‘ Depth‘ – I am displaying a picture I took while backpacking through Paris.542340_10150896658898951_1468784017_nWhile in Paris, you will be able to see many of the monuments from many different vantage points throughout the city. This is not due to random chance. There is actually city ordinance dictating that no buildings in the inner circle of Paris may be built above a certain height or in a different style of architecture.

This is to ensure the visibility of Parisian monuments and to continue the historic appeal of the city’s streets.

To me, this picture demonstrated not just an, albeit obvious, architectural depth but a cultural depth in the pride the people of Paris have in the history and ambiance of their beautiful city.

  1. This is a wonderful photograph! I love that it gives a different perspective of how the Eiffel Tower is viewed from a perspective outside of what we usually see. I think this is the view the citizens of France see and probably love. The Eiffel Tower in their own backyard. Thank you for sharing it.

  2. Unique perspective on a very familiar sight. Good choice for the photo challenge. Could be the view of a small child holding moms hand or from a wheelchair or from a tourist just sitting down for a rest on the sidewalk. Beautiful and daunting all at the same time.
